How to Use Your Results

Body Type Guide FAQs

What is the difference between body shape and body type?
Body shape refers to your silhouette (hourglass, pear, etc.). Body type can include male shapes (trapezoid, oval) and somatotypes (ecto, meso, endo).
Can I belong to multiple categories?
One result per system. Boundary results are common — notes from the adjacent category will often apply.
Do these categories change with age?
Yes. Posture, fat distribution, and muscle mass shift over time. Recalculate every few months if tracking change.
Is somatotype a personality test?
No. Sheldon’s original personality claims have not held up. Modern usage limits somatotype to physique.
Are all categories scientifically rigorous?
Body shape and male body type categories are widely used. Somatotype is a practical coaching framework. WHR comes from WHO guidelines. None replaces clinical assessment.
